We've been searching through hundreds, if not thousands of homes in search for our dream home in the countryside and we want to bring them to you!

Here at Old House Japan, we'll continue to search for the best "akiya" also known as vacant and low cost homes to you. Our goal will continue to bring you the best cheap houses within Japan but also check out the "free" homes available if you're ready to put your own finishing touches on your dream home!

My name is Victoria
I've dreamt of going to Japan since I was a teenager and finally got the visit Fall of 2019, which is where my husband, David proposed to me at the popular Fushimi- Inari Taisha aka the VERY popular torii gates path. Besides being in love and newly engaged, we easily fell in love with Japan and all it had to offer. Since then we've gone back yearly to hunt for properties, explore new areas and continue building on my Japanese so I can have better conversations with those I meet along the way. While we have not found our dream home yet, I am hopeful and won't give up! I hope you find your dream home here on Old Houses Japan.

Being someone who has always been in love with Japanese culture when my wife and I booked our trip to Japan in 2019, I never thought that it would have such an impact on my life. Not only did I propose to Victoria but pretty much knew that this would be a place that I would want to call home eventually. Having traveled all over Japan, I can say that there is so much to love about it and so much more to explore.
Creating Old Houses Japan has been a dream in itself, so that other people who are on a budget but love everything Japan can have the opportunity to purchase their DREAM house/Akiya. Join us on this journey as their are so many more exciting things to come from this venture!
